The
history of Aix-en-Provence dates back before the Romans.
This can be seen at the Cathedral where pre-Roman remains
have been found. The Romans built the cathedrals
baptismal font using these remains in the sixth century.
The later constructions of the cathedral are Gothic,
and do not miss the paintings and the carved wood doors.

center. There are over 80 fountains
in the town itself, of which one,
on the Cours Mirabeau, is a warm
water spring. This can be visited
all year round, while taking part
in the Regional Internation Festivals.
